Meet the Professor

Johnny Tama is an Ecuadorian grappler who became the first Hispanic athlete to conquer an IBJJF world title in the adult black belt division of this sport. Not only is Tama one of the most impressive athletes of his generation, but he is also committed to sharing his expertise with students of all ages. Johnny’s dedication to cultivating the next generation of fighters is evident in every class, where discipline, perseverance, and excellence are the cornerstones of his training philosophy.

The Sport

Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is a grappling-based martial art focused on ground fighting and submission holds, emphasizing technique and leverage to control and defeat opponents regardless of size or strength. It's highly effective for self-defense, allowing individuals to defend themselves against larger attackers by controlling and neutralizing threats on the ground.
